Cryptid Collective

It’s tough being a new vendor!

For folks that love to make things, knowing how to transition into selling your work can be harder to do. Cryptid Collective is a training ground for new-to-it vendors, whether they choose to table at markets, do pop-ups, or approach shops to stock their work. Our collective cycles through new members, as current ones find their footing to branch off on their own, and leave space for new cohorts of Cryptids.

Started in 2023 by my friends and I, I assist new members as needed and designed the logo.

Cryptid Collective started (as these things usually do) by me bullying my friends into selling their art. I’m lucky enough to know many talented creatives, but heard a lot of hesitation from them in knowing how to market or present their work, the inhibitive cost of table fees, or how present their work for public consumption.

Enter Cryptid Collective: a cohort of new-to-it vendors who work together in to table at markets, make stock, and promote each other’s work as we learn to grow and strike out on our own. My hand in this is to encourage and support members in thinking about how to present their work, write applications, take photos, promote online, and leads on where to stock their work in shops. Cryptid cycles through its members, once individuals are comfortable enough to strike out on their own.
